#Rationalism : The official miracles of “Mother” Teresa

It’s a great day for the cheerleaders of rationalism. Mother Teresa’s second miracle has been officially recognized by the Holy Father in the Vatican. Let’s find out:

Pope Francis had officially cleared the path to Mother Teresa’s sainthood on December 17 last year, when he recognised the “miraculous healing” of a Brazilian man whose multiple brain abscesses were cured after his wife prayed to Mother Teresa.

(http://www.hindustantimes.com/india/mother-teresa-to-be-formally-declared-a-saint-in-october/story-bt7aVFDqbzbEZJ49jKPTZK.html?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=fbpost&utm_campaign=india)

I have an idea. Let us get rid of hospitals, medical colleges and all… and instead create a new officer cadre called Indian Prayer Service (IPS). The officers will be recruited through the UPSC exam and trained to pray to Mother Teresa to cure sick people.

You know, I have been taunted by many “progressive” liberals about my desire to see a temple at Ram Janmabhoomi. They ask: what is the need of a temple? Why not something useful like a hospital? Well, the joke is on you liberals… what is the need for a hospital? Can’t you just pray to Mother Teresa instead?

So, what’s this ceremony called “canonisation” that makes a person a saint? Let’s find out:

The beatification of Mother Teresa – another step towards declaring her a saint – took place after Pope John Paul II recognised the healing of an Indian woman with a stomach tumour and conferred on her the title of “Blessed” on October 19, 2003. More than 300,000 people had attended this event at St Peters Square in the Vatican….A canonisation ceremony usually involves a special mass conducted by the Pope and is attended by huge crowds of believers. It is often held outdoors in St Peter’s Square, although sometimes the ceremony has been held in the home country of the person declared a saint…. The cost of beatification and canonisation reportedly runs into several hundreds of thousands of euros.

So lakhs of people will come from all across the world and spend hundreds of thousands of euros to celebrate the miraculous cure for brain cancer! I am sure that these hundreds of thousands of euros could not possibly have been put to better use… I am sure that the lakhs of people who will gather could not have spent the money for their travel on anything better. I am also sure that this event will have a ZERO carbon footprint and no impact on the environment. On an unrelated note, have you donated Rs 20 to a hungry child yet, instead of wasting the money on pouring milk over a Shivlinga? If you haven’t, Aamir Khan is ashamed of you…

And at this grand ceremony on Sept 4, the self styled godman called Pope Francis will officially recognize the “miracles”  of Mother Teresa. Wait, can I call Pope Francis a “self-styled godman”, perhaps like this:

Pictures of Amruta Fadnavis, wife of the Maharashtra Chief Minister, is drawing criticism because it shows her accepting a gold necklace from a self-styled godman.

I wonder what other way there is to become a “godman” except being self-styled. Oh wait, “Pope” Francis was actually elected by a committee of godmen called cardinals all of whom have been accredited with the official bureau of Godman standards called the Catholic Church. Can’t argue with that. So, Pope Francis is an “accredited godman”  instead of just being a “self-styled godman”.

But, I will tell you who definitely won’t be coming to accredited godman Francis’s  zero carbon footprint party on Sept 4 when he canonizes Mother Teresa? It’s a 34 year old Eritrean woman who worked in the accredited godman’s  ashram and was found seven months pregnant…and dead…

Look at the good side of this, folks. We don’t have to call her “Mother Teresa” any more once she becomes “St. Teresa”. Mothers don’t stand by watching as babies suffer and die, refusing to treat them. Think about it, people. There’s “Mother Teresa” in heaven, with the magical powers to cure the suffering of people on earth. Does she use those magical powers to help us all? No,  Mother Teresa sits  around chilling in heaven after death, refusing to help anyone with brain cancer unless they satisfy her ego by praying to her so she can get some medal from an accredited godman in a lavish party… Attributes of a mother? I think not…

  1. A collectors article !!!
Do give a thought to my suggestion of putting some of your articles in a book /ebook form .

Whilst the spoof is well undetstood in the context in which it is written – I do believe in the miraculous life altering power of prayers . it is not possible with all – but yes those with very firm deep faith do end up seeing mountains getting moved for them. I have also seen some astrologers correctly predict the date of death for some .

Personally though, I am an Irreverent Nihilist with respect only for some hindu Gods ( as inspirations) !!!

  2. Good post! …. This ‘saint hood ‘ thing is such a farce!

To be compassionate is human… But to be a fanatic, a fundamentalist and a fraud is… divine as per Vatican.

Let us recollect some of her famous quotes by this ‘saint- to- be’ who was once known as “Saint of the Gutter”!!

According to Mother Teresa’s bizarre philosophy, it is “the most beautiful gift for a person that he can participate in the sufferings of Christ”.

Once she tried to comfort a screaming sufferer: “You are suffering, that means Jesus is kissing you!”
The man got furious and screamed back: “Then tell your Jesus to stop kissing.”

“The suffering of the poor is something very beautiful and the world is being very much helped by the nobility of this example of misery and suffering,” said Mother Teresa eccentric billionaire !

Mother Teresa did not serve the poor in Calcutta, she served the rich in the West.

    THIS EVIL WOMAN USED INDIANS….PERIOD!!

  3. Rationalism, is not for the enlightened followers of religions of Peace, it is for us, Pagans. No self styled rationalist will ever raise a voice against such regressive, dogmatic practices of Church, or the bigotry of Islam. In fact every religion is considered sacrosanct by its followers, except of course Hinduism, whose followers leave no opportunity of denigrating, demeaning and despising it. We allow for demonisation of Ma Durga, hanging of Lord Ram, burning of copies of Manu Smriti, and call it Freedom of Expression, and a whole liberal brigade comes to the rescue of these apostates. However, a Kamlesh Tiwari is clamped with NSA for uttering words against the Prophet. Time and again this anomaly of selective dispensation comes to fore, but nothing is done. A village in WB cannot organise Navratri Festivities because it may invite the wrath of ‘peacefuls’, Durga Visarjan is delayed in honour of Muslim sentiments, Hindu temples are taken over by state but Churches and Mosques are considered sacrosanct and inviolable. Hindu Educational institutions are subject to Government rules, while Minority institutions are allowed to frame their own rules. The political establishment of the country is so enamoured or scared of these ‘peacefuls’ that they dare not question their regressive practices. Hindu ‘Purdah’ is regressive, however Muslim ‘Burqua’ is simply beyond discussion.
Looking at some such cases of institutional bias, it is imperative that Hindus too learn a bit of religious fervour from their counterparts, let us also learn to respect our religion, not necessarily radicalism, but yes, intolerance to desecration of our values.

  4. Didn’t I read that even Pope John Paul II was very close-suspiciously close, to a lady? Of course, I don’t mind that as long as these God men are not closed to kindergarten children.

  5. Unrelated.Just wanted to know what you think about US Presidential Election.Personally, for me,any Republican would be fine but I would be really happy if Trump becomes the president.I like the fact that he isn’t politically correct, that he self funds his campaign, realizes the truth about muslims and the fact that he seems to be pro India and pro modi(he has praised Modi before)is a huge positive IMO.Liberals are trying their same dirty tricks again.During the 2014 election campaign, they compared Modi to Hitler, called him a fascist,a communal bigot, etc. And in the US,the liberals are also comparing Trump to Hitler, calling him a fascist, racist, etc. And I love the fact that their rhetoric hasn’t affected Trump(he has the lead as far as delegates are concerned).I would be really happy if he becomes the president.Wondering if you would do a post about the US presidential election?

    1. I have always been supportive of Trump for the very reasons you have articulated. And hope that on his victory- some of his pro american beliefs gets rubbed off as pro hindu beliefs in neo statesman Modi.

    2. Regarding US presidential election!!

      Quote:
“We don’t really elect our leaders, as it is now. We select people to work as agents of the Deep State, a shadowy unelected agency of interests and figures much more powerful than any elected stooge. The charade of American presidential politics is more of a drain on our society than an opportunity for renewal.”

After president Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Reserve Act in 1913, giving formation to our private central bank, he is quoted to have shown considerable remorse in the following statement:
“I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the civilized world no longer a Government by free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men.” – Woodrow Wilson, U.S. President (1913-1921)

    3. Good idea. Will do a post on the US presidential election tomorrow. I am definitely not backing Trump. Personally, I don’t believe anything he says. Right now he talks of being politically incorrect because he knows thats what is selling. Previously he used to boast about being a Democrat when that was in fashion…

  6. Teresa (i refuse to call the old hag a mother) was a sadistic fraud. Christopher Hitchens has given her the treatment in his inimitable style. But the real expose is by Aroup Chatterjee in his book Final Verdict. This is fact based and hasn’t been refuted so far. The idea is to let the church’s razzle dazzle, helped by a slavish media, to drown out the few lone voices raised against the charlatan.

  7. I remember having read somewhere that once when she was asked the purpose of her mission in India she seems to have retorted that she was here for conversion and but for that why should she be in India?

The patients or refugees who have been adopted by her were not being treated the way she was claiming to take care of them, rather being treated shabbily in an unhygienic ambience and in disgusting state.

As Indian history has been made a bunch of distorted facts under Congress regime in the 60 years, I too was thinking so highly about this lady keeping her in a raised pedestal till I came across the above article.

On the contrary, is NSC Bose. As long as we were in school days we were taught differently about him that he had absconded and died on a plane crash till the ugly truth came out recently that it was not so.

    1. Exactly. She was a missionary. She always said she was a missionary. Her organization is called Missionaries of Charity. And yet secular liberals get so upset when we point out that she was a missionary doing what missionaries do: spread their religion.
